We bring Seasons Greetings to all our readers and wish you a prosperous New Year!
As we enter the New Year, the nation seems to be simultaneously confused, entertained and vindicated in its cynicism by the succession of scams that have been coming on since last summer. “This proves we are a nation of crony capitalists”, proclaimed one print media sage. Is there such a thing as non crony capitalism or non crony any form of economic organization for that matter? The real issue is the legitimate funding of elections and we will examine this issue in the next edition of Ensouth.
In this edition, we go back and examine the first of last year’s scams: the tragic-comic theatre a.k.a the Indian Premier League. In doing so, we examine the extent of our country’s failure to resolve the problem of conflict of interest in Conflicting Collateral Interest.
Next, considering how real estate prices have been rinsing in India and falling elsewhere, we ask ourselves if it makes sense for resident Indians to buy property abroad in Buy West Young Man.
Finally, for the benefit of our overseas readers, we offer a slice of sometimes tongue-in-cheek management wisdom for foreigners trying to do business in India in What lies beneath.
