Managing Partners Message

The first world lurches along, the second world – or tomorrow’s stars if you prefer – are galloping away. What do we need to do to ensure that we keep the pace? I would think that together, we need to draw attention to things we need to change and then support positives changes that occur.

With such a rapidly changing India, the subjects for comment this time all arise from current affairs. First in Land Acquisition Angst, we look at India’s No. 1 problem: getting hold of the land that will allow us to build the infrastructure and the industry we need. Since our current land acquisition laws are both immoral and unworkable, prioritizing a solution to this problem must surely be the first item on our national agenda. Next in False Promises, we look at how a globally validated business model of reconditioning cars is being subverted in the old Indian way. Finally, on the subject that has consumed national attention like nothing else in recent memory, we examine the court’s decision in the Ambani oil spat in Totally Legal Injustice and question the merit of the result we have achieved.

Happy reading!
